Our Partner-Beneficiaries: Families and Self Help Groups
At the heart of Colors of Compassion are our partner-beneficiaries: Families and Self Help Groups. We believe that family is the heart of society, and Self Help Groups are the families we choose.
These groups, typically comprising 7 to 15 individuals, come together bound by shared assets and a spirit of care. They are communities rooted in trust and fueled by shared purpose, supporting one another through life’s challenges.
Our work is dedicated to cultivating spaces where these groups can:
- Rise rooted in strength and braced by resilience.
- Flourish in well-being.
- Grow, thrive, and transform their challenges into hope, together.
While our support extends to all who seek it, we have a deep commitment to Filipino families and individuals, recognizing their unique journeys and strong spirit of community. Many of our initiatives and much of our advocacy are specifically tailored to address the needs and celebrate the contributions of the Filipino community, particularly those navigating life as immigrants in Calgary.
When supported with the right tools, capacity, trusting relationships, and organizational backing from Colors of Compassion, these small circles become powerful engines of transformation. They turn struggle into strength and connection into lasting impact, advocating for themselves and driving positive change within their own lives and communities.
